Committee Applications 2023

Join YoungShip Oslo and help us become even better!

Join the crew at YoungShip Oslo

We at YoungShip Oslo aim to create a social arena for young professionals in Oslo working in the maritime industries. We feel that we have come a long way towards this goal, but there is more than enough room for new initiatives and ideas. The Board of YSO relies on volunteers working in our committees for the organization to work smoothly, and we look forward to taking on a couple of new members in the coming weeks. As a committee member, you are further included in the administration of YSO and its events, and work closely with members of the board. We have several committees taking in new members, and information about these is listed below.

Communications

As part of the Communications committee, you will together with Vilde Hageselle be working with our external communications channels.

  • You will be assisting with keeping the website up to date with relevant information about our events and news
  • You will be using your creativity to put together exciting newsletters
  • Assist on other tasks when necessary

Digital marketing

As part of the Digital marketing committee, you will together with Kjetil Bagger Røyneberg be responsible for Youngship Oslo’s content on our social media accounts, with our main focus currently beeing Linkedin and Instagram. This includes preparing and publishing posts as well as coordinating with other board members, committee members, partners and sponsors to ensure that we have all information (topic, agenda, photos, logos, permissions etc.) necessary for publishing posts.

Events

In the Event committee you will have an important role planning Youngships events throughout the year. You will be part of a team consisting of 3-5 people incl. Anette Jacobsen Aspelund from the board of YS. The main task is to plan both academic events, but also social events for young people in the maritime industry. It's important to maintain and develop external relations across the industry to find speakers and sponsors for the events.

Finance

As part of the Finance committee you will together with Sigurd S Wold be working on the day to day financial operations. This includes keeping accounts and billing partners in Visma, keeping track of membership fees in Vipps and relevant systems, developing budgets and preparing the annual report.

Internal affairs

At internal affairs you will work together with Eirik Søreide Hansen to maintain and develop the different systems YSO relies on, from the website to membership administration. As a member of the committee you will have responsibility for some of the systems, while much work will be performed in workshops at regular intervals. We are currently looking at new systems and technologies to make the administration of YSO more efficient, and we hope you will be interested in helping us reach this goal.
