YoungShip Haugesund was founded in 2007 and is an organization for young professionals working within shipping and shipping-related companies in or around Haugesund. Currently we have over 60 members from different companies within the maritime industry.
Many call Haugesund the maritime capital of Norway. This is where you find the Norwegian maritime authority with 200 highly competent employees that develop and enforce regulation for all Norwegian registered vessels as well as perform inspections on foreign vessels visiting Norwegian waters. In Haugesund you will also find the Norwegian coastal administration west.
To supplement the maritime environment in Haugesund, it is the only city in Norway together with Oslo that have two different companies that do shipbroking for offshore vessels.
College to educate new maritime officers, simulator build together with the local maritime industry becoming one of the country’s most advanced simulators. With a turnover of 30.000.000.000 NOK in 2013 the Haugesund region is a major player in the maritime environment.
We welcome members from companies such as ship owners, managers, brokers, operators, financial institutions, insurance, technical- and judicial consultants.Our goal is to enhance skills and build both social and professional networks for our members located in or close to Haugesund.
YoungShip Haugesund is a non-profit organisation and our activities are primarily financed through:

* * general support from collaborating businesses and organisations
* * sponsorship from businesses participating in each event
We have just finished up this years summer conference where we explored future opportunities and drivers of change in the maritime industry.
