The seminar was kicked off with a welcome to 2025-speach held by DNV GLs own Chief Sustainability Officer Bjørn Haugland, who requested a radical change especially with regards to inequality and climate action. He pointed out that Norway is the place to innovate and that we all have an obligation towards the environment. Following his introduction, Elisabeth Grieg, Chair of Grieg Star Group AS, continued the seminar with a question: Why do you get in the morning? Her presentation was focused on the ocean of opportunities and came with a clear encouragement: Get up in the morning to be part of making the difference. Many of the participant will remember her presentation by the #Nobullshit! Bjørn Johan Vartdal, Programme Director, DNV GL, continued with an analysis of the alternative fuels and technology on emissions from shipping, before Nina Jensen, CEO of X Four 10/REV, presented their new research vessel. She made an impression on the many YoungShippers who had turn up by her strong commitment towards making a difference. Christopher Andersen Heidenreich, Techincal Director at Awilco Tankers, continued the seminar focusing on ECO VLCCs and how the ship design impact performance. Last, but not least, Magnus Lande, Veracity Commercial Manager at DNV GL walked us through DNV GLs Veracity open industry data platform. After the seminar, the participant was taken by bus to Südøst at Grüneløkka where YES 2018 was finished up with a lovely dinner.
