BACKGROUND

YSN is a non-profit association of young professionals in the Nigerian Maritime Industry and a department of YoungShip International, with a global presence in Norway, Cyprus, Singapore, England, UAE, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, America, Germany, Nigeria, and Tanzania. YoungShip provides a platform that allows all its members to build a broader understanding of the industry through collaboration, which in turn provides the industry with a motivated generation of young professionals. The Association also has a particular focus to promote young entrepreneurs working on environmental challenges, social responsibility and innovation in green technology.

OBJECTIVES

In tandem with our objectives, YoungShip Nigeria is finalizing plans to host a virtual celebration of Africa day of seas and oceans as one of the Africa Union recommendations of the 2050 Africa’s Integrated Maritime Strategy (AIMS).

  1. The 2050 AIM Strategy provides a broad framework for the protection and sustainable exploitation of Seas and Oceans of Africa. Protecting the ocean is everyone's business – and so the responsibility of every African.
  2. The AU at its 22nd summit in January has set a period from 2015 - 2025 as the 'Decade of African Seas and Oceans' and the date 25 July as the "African Day of Seas and Oceans".
  3. To discuss areas of opportunities and strength to the African youths within the context of AIM Strategy.
  4. To educate more youths on harnessing Africa's blue economy.
  5. To encourage more bright minds towards career development, capacity building, and competence within the Maritime industry
  6.  Thank you for your cooperation and support as we look forward to welcoming you.
