YS Helsinki Christmas event 02.12.2020

Shipbuilding 101 - Everything you have ever wanted to know (or not) about shipbuilding in 30 minutes.

2 December

Update 29.11.2020

Due to tougher restrictions and instructions by the government regarding meeting people outside your family, we have decided to make some adjustments to the event on 2 December. Instead of meeting in smaller groups, we will call in from our respective homes.

We start the event with naval architect Leena Vedenpää's presentation on Shipbuilding 101: Everything you've ever wanted (or not) to know about Shipbuilding in 30 minutes

After Leena's presentation we will stay on the line and take the opportunity to have a mingle with glögi and gingerbread  to see how everyone is doing and discuss shipping and closely linked topics. The mingle will be very informal.  If you have a topic you want to talk about, you can take the initiative or  just write "the topic" in the chat and one of us in the board will steer the discussion towards this area of interest.

Below the new progamme:

We have now extended the registration to noon December 2nd as the event took another format. Warmly welcome to join us online!

Warmly welcome!

Due to Covid-19, we cannot this year arrange a big Xmas party for YoungShip Helsinki, and instead we will gather in small groups of 2-4 persons locally and connect online. This way we can have groups all over Finland and invite our international YoungShip friends to join as well.

Shipbuilding 101 with our own Leena Vedenpää:

Everything you've ever wanted (or not) to know about Shipbuilding in 30 minutes. Presented by a naval architect with design and shipbuilding experience (also of gingerbread boats).

After Leena’s intro every group will design and build their own gingerbread ship. We will have the online meeting ongoing with cameras while building and in the end you will present your ship to the other groups. You will have to buy the ingredients yourself, feel free to have some wine (or glögi) and snacks already while listening to Leena’s best tips for you.

When you register please let us know where you are located on the date of the event and if you would like to be a host for one of the groups. We will then assist with creating the groups. It is also possible to create a virtual group.  If you have already created a group, that is fine as well, just write it down in your registration so we know!

Last date to register is 27 November.

Warmly welcome!
