Last Tuesday, during the exciting talk regarding Bergen as a shipping city from the early 1970s until the present, the knowledgeable Stig Tenold decided to quiz the YoungShip audience on the heading question. Out of the 28 listed companies, the highest score, unfortunately, did not exceed 6. One can argue that this in itself is an important reason for YoungShips existence, to learn more about shipping and our roots.
The context for the talk is Stigs new book: "Bergen & Sjøfarten - Bind 6" which he writes in cooperation with "Sjøfartsmuseet". Judging from the presentation, the book is a fresh look at an exciting time where Norway went from owning 8.5% of the worlds shipping fleet to around 1% short times after.
After the presentation, we went to Nedre Nygaard for the traditional Ankerdram, where the discussion continued.
We would once again like to thank the 40 so members who showed up, as well as Stig Tenold for making this day very interesting. Stig also has another book out, called Shipping in the 20th century. We highly recommend checking it out.
